Double gas seals consist of two pairs of friction pairs forming a seal chamber filled with nitrogen at a pressure slightly higher than the medium pressure.During operation,an extremely thin gas film forms between the faces,keeping them in a non-contact state.This design not only virtually eliminates friction loss and heat generation but also achieves zero leakage of the process medium,with only minimal nitrogen emission,ensuring high safety and environmental friendliness.Its structure is highly integrated,installation is simple,and it offers strong adaptability to equipment operating parameters.It can even operate briefly under dry conditions.Additionally,nitrogen is chemically stable,unlikely to contaminate the process medium,and avoids system risks caused by operational errors.

In contrast,double mechanical seals also employ a dual sealing structure but rely on sealing liquids(such as methanol,lubricating oil,etc.)for blocking and lubrication.The sealing liquid requires continuous supply and maintenance at a certain pressure,leading to complex auxiliary systems and high energy consumption.The friction pairs operate in contact,generating significant heat and wear during operation,placing extremely stringent demands on equipment coaxiality and vibration.The sealing liquid itself carries a risk of leakage,potentially causing environmental pollution,and is susceptible to contamination by the medium,requiring frequent replacement and resulting in high maintenance costs.

Single mechanical seals have the simplest structure,with only one sealing face and no external blocking system.Although the initial investment is low,they directly expose the medium to the atmosphere,posing the highest leakage risk.Once the seal fails,it can easily lead to a massive spill of the medium,seriously threatening production safety and environmental protection.Therefore,they are typically used only for non-hazardous,non-volatile media occasions.

In terms of service life,gas seals,due to their non-contact operation,have a significantly extended lifespan,often lasting several years;double mechanical seals require replacement every one to two years;while single seals may need maintenance every six months.Regarding overall operating costs,although gas seals have a higher initial investment,their low power consumption,minimal maintenance,and long cycle characteristics make them economically advantageous over their entire life cycle.

With increasing demands for safety,environmental protection,and operational efficiency,double gas seals are increasingly becoming the preferred choice for high-risk,high-value pump systems.They not only align with the green and efficient development direction of modern industry but are also more suitable for long-term stable operation needs.Although traditional mechanical seals still have application space in certain scenarios,their disadvantages in sustainability and economic efficiency are gradually becoming apparent.
