The continuous operation of chemical production highly relies on the stable transportation of liquid media.As the core device of the transportation system,the operating status of pumps is directly related to production efficiency and on-site safety.Many personnel who have just been exposed to on-site equipment have a vague understanding of pump structure,and cannot quickly locate and handle faults when they occur,which not only delays production progress,but also easily causes problems such as medium leakage and equipment damage.Centrifugal pumps are the most commonly used pumps on site,which are suitable for most conventional medium transportation scenarios;for high-viscosity materials,positive displacement pumps such as rotary lobe pumps are also widely used,and the basic fault troubleshooting logic of the two is universal.

-Bonve Pump Cam-Type Double Rotary Lobe Pump-

The rotary lobe pump is mainly composed of five core components.The pump body serves as the equipment shell and flow passage,which not only protects the internal rotating parts,but also restricts the flow direction of the medium.The material of the pump body must match the corrosion characteristics and solid content of the conveyed medium.The rotor is the core of energy conversion,which works on the medium through rotation.Impeller scaling,jamming or wear is the most common cause of flow decline.The pump shaft and bearings undertake power transmission and support:the pump shaft transmits torque,and the bearings reduce rotational friction.The lubrication state of bearings directly determines the temperature rise and noise level during equipment operation.The seal assembly is divided into mechanical seal and packing seal,which blocks medium leakage and impurity infiltration,and is a fast-wearing vulnerable part.The coupling connects the motor and the pump shaft,transmits torque while buffering vibration,and misalignment or looseness will cause excessive vibration.

Most on-site pump faults are related to inadequate operation and maintenance and non-standard operations.Six types of high-frequency faults can be handled according to the following corresponding methods:Insufficient flow or no output is mostly caused by air trapped in the pump chamber,clogged filter screen and impeller wear.It is necessary to stop the pump for exhaust and priming,and clear the blockages.Priming and exhausting before startup is the key operation to avoid air binding.Excessive vibration and abnormal noise are often caused by coupling misalignment,loose anchor bolts and bearing wear.It is necessary to correct the coaxiality and tighten the bolts.Long-term excessive vibration will accelerate fatigue damage of shafting components.Excessive temperature and overheating are mostly caused by abnormal lubricating oil,overload operation and blocked cooling pipelines.It is necessary to replace the lubricating oil and adjust working conditions.The normal operating temperature of bearings usually should not exceed 60℃.Medium leakage is mostly caused by seal aging and gasket failure.For slight leakage,the gland can be tightened,and in severe cases,the parts shall be replaced after shutdown.Motor current overload is easy to burn out the motor,so it is necessary to stop the machine immediately to clear obstacles and troubleshoot electrical faults.Difficult startup is mostly caused by power supply failure and solidification of low-temperature medium.It is necessary to check the circuit and restart after heating and melting the material with heat tracing.

Equipment operation and maintenance follows the principle of"seven points of maintenance,three points of repair",and most faults can be avoided in advance through standardized daily inspection.Daily inspection should focus on monitoring operating parameters,listening to operating sounds,detecting component temperatures,checking seal status,tightening connecting bolts,and maintaining the lubrication system.Fault troubleshooting can follow a simplified logic:check bearing lubrication for abnormal noise,check seals and connectors for leakage,check clogged impellers for flow difference,and check heat dissipation and lubrication for high temperature.Standardized operation and regular maintenance can not only reduce equipment maintenance costs,but also avoid on-site safety risks.
