The convenience of inspection and maintenance directly affects production continuity and operation and maintenance costs.The maintenance process of rotary lobe pumps is extremely simple.There is no need to disassemble the inlet and outlet pipelines,and it can be completed with only a small number of general tools and a narrow operating space,without the need for professional technicians to be present.The maintenance of gear pumps is relatively cumbersome.It is necessary to disassemble the connecting pipelines and drive motors first,which is time-consuming and labor-intensive and has high requirements for the professional skills of operation and maintenance personnel.

In terms of core performance and service life,the transmission system of rotary lobe pumps is completely separated from the material conveying chamber.The transmission gears are fully lubricated by lubricating oil in a closed gearbox,and there is no contact friction between the rotors or between the rotors and the pump chamber,achieving zero wear of the flow-through components.The transmission and conveying processes of gear pumps are completed in the same pump chamber.The gears are in direct contact with the materials,which is prone to wear during long-term operation,and the falling metal debris will also contaminate the conveyed materials.Data shows that the volumetric efficiency of rotary lobe pumps can reach 80%,with a service life of 10-20 years,and the only wearing part is the mechanical seal;the volumetric efficiency of gear pumps is about 70%,with a service life of 5-10 years,and the wearing parts include transmission gears and mechanical seals.

For high-viscosity material transfer,the best low-speed operation mode should be selected according to the viscosity of the material,which can not only ensure the stability of the conveying process but also greatly extend the service life of the mechanical seal.From the perspective of industry development,gear pumps are the oldest type of positive displacement pumps,and were gradually replaced by diaphragm pumps and screw pumps later.Now they have been replaced by rotary lobe pumps in many core working conditions.However,in scenarios such as lubricating oil transfer and industrial product transfer with low requirements for material quality,gear pumps are still widely used due to their low price advantage.
