Packing seal is the most basic sealing form.It axially compresses soft packings such as graphite and polytetrafluoroethylene to make them radially expand and fit the pump shaft and the inner wall of the stuffing box.The medium undergoes multi-stage throttling and pressure reduction through the tortuous gaps of the packing layer,forming a controllable micro-leakage to lubricate and cool the packing and prevent frictional overheating.This structure is simple and low-cost,suitable for mild working conditions such as clean water transportation.
Mechanical seal is the most widely used solution in current industry.Its core is a pair of rotating and stationary rings ground to micron-level precision.The combined force of spring tension and medium pressure pushes the two end faces into close contact,forming a liquid film only a few microns thick that simultaneously provides lubrication,cooling and sealing,resulting in extremely low or even zero leakage.It is widely applied in chemical,petroleum and other industries,and rotary pumps,a type of positive displacement pump,often use this seal to accommodate various media.
Dynamic seal relies on the fluid power generated by the pump's own operation,and the typical one is the auxiliary impeller seal.When the reverse auxiliary impeller at the rear of the main impeller rotates at high speed,it generates a centrifugal force pointing to the inside of the pump to counteract the medium pressure in the seal chamber.This seal operates without contact and wear,but the power disappears after shutdown,so it must be equipped with a shutdown seal and is suitable for conveying slurry containing solid particles.
Floating ring seal combines the principles of end face seal and gap throttling,and is composed of alternately arranged radially floating floating rings and fixed support rings.The high-pressure medium undergoes multi-stage throttling and pressure reduction through the multi-stage annular gaps,and the final pressure is close to atmospheric pressure.Moreover,the floating ring can realize self-aligning,adapting to high-pressure and high-speed clean liquid working conditions.
Dry gas seal is a high-end non-contact seal,with precision spiral grooves engraved on the end face of the rotating ring.During high-speed rotation,the spiral grooves pump clean sealing gas into the end face to form a high-pressure gas film,completely separating the rotating and stationary rings,achieving zero-wear operation and suitable for high-speed and high-risk media transportation.
Shaftless seal structure eliminates dynamic sealing points from the root,and is divided into magnetic drive pumps and canned motor pumps.The magnetic drive pump transmits power through magnetic coupling,and the medium is completely enclosed by the isolation cover;the canned motor pump integrates the impeller and the motor rotor into a sealed pressure vessel,both achieving essential zero leakage and being the first choice for highly toxic and flammable media.
Seal selection needs to balance safety,performance and cost,and the core basis is media characteristics,operating conditions,environmental protection requirements and economy.Reasonable matching of sealing methods can effectively reduce leakage risks and ensure the long-term stable operation of the production system.
