Information

The operational stability of cam-type twin-rotor pumps directly affects the efficiency of the production line. This article covers comprehensive inspections of oil level, pipelines and sealing systems before startup, real-time monitoring of parameters and operation red lines during operation, material cleaning and long-term storage requirements after shutdown, as well as key nodes and implementation standards for daily maintenance.

I. Preparations Before Startup

Check the lubricating oil level in the gearbox. The oil level should be at 1/2 of the transparent oil sight glass, and the lubricating oil can be completely replaced after 4000 hours of cumulative operation.

•Open all inlet and outlet valves of the pipeline. After the medium fills the pump chamber, turn the pump manually to confirm no jamming or abnormal noise, then jog the motor.  Verify that the rotation direction is consistent with the medium flow direction before formal startup. Dry running of the pump is strictly prohibited.

•For working conditions with suction lift requirements, fill the inlet pipeline and pump chamber with the conveyed material in advance.

•If temperature control of the medium is required, the heating system should be turned on 10 minutes in advance.

•For pumps equipped with water-cooled mechanical seals, the cooling water must be turned on first before startup and ensure no flow interruption, otherwise the mechanical seal will be damaged instantly.

II. Control During Operation

•Continuously monitor the motor power and equipment operation status during operation. Shut down immediately for inspection if abnormal vibration or abnormal noise occurs.

•Mechanical seals should have no leakage or heating; packing seals allow a leakage rate of 1 to 3 drops per minute. When the leakage increases, the packing ring can be slightly tightened without disassembly.

•For pumps with mechanical continuously variable transmissions, adjust the speed gradually according to the speed display after startup. Turning the speed control dial when the pump is stopped is strictly prohibited.

Bearing temperature rise standard: No more than 40℃ under water cooling condition, and allowed to be 30℃ higher than the pump body temperature under hot water insulation condition.

Rotor pumps convey media by volume change. Adjusting the flow rate with the inlet pipeline valve is prohibited to avoid cavitation which causes severe vibration. In addition, simultaneously closing the inlet and outlet valves during operation is strictly prohibited.

III. Shutdown and Maintenance

•When shutting down, close the inlet and outlet valves first. Easily coagulable and easily precipitable media must be completely drained and cleaned.

•When restarting after long-term shutdown, turn the coupling manually first to confirm that the rotation has resistance but is uniform in weight, and there is no friction sound or foreign body sensation.

•During reinstallation, the coaxiality deviation between the pump shaft and the motor shaft shall not exceed 0.1mm, otherwise it will cause vibration and shorten the service life of the main shaft.

•For daily maintenance, regularly check whether the pipeline connections are loose. The lubricating oil can be replaced once after a period of initial operation.

•Regularly check the wear condition of the shaft sleeve, and replace it in time if the wear is severe.

•After shutdown in cold winter, unscrew the drain plug at the lower part of the pump body to drain the medium completely to prevent freezing and cracking.

•For long-term shutdown, disassemble the equipment, wipe off the moisture, apply grease to the rotating parts and joint surfaces, and store them properly.
