In industrial production processes, pump equipment is the core power unit for conveying media, and its stable operation directly affects the efficiency and cost of the entire production line. Many enterprises only focus on production tasks during equipment use, ignoring correct operating specifications and regular maintenance, leading to frequent equipment failures and even premature scrapping. As a commonly used positive displacement pump, rotary lobe pumps are widely used in chemical, food and other industries, and their structural characteristics determine that they have high requirements for use and maintenance.

1.Long-term operation deviating from rated working conditions. Each equipment has a rated flow, pressure and speed range calibrated by the manufacturer. If it works beyond this range for a long time, it will lead to excessive motor load, intensified wear of internal components, and greatly shorten the normal service life of the equipment.

2.Neglecting lubrication system maintenance. Moving parts such as bearings and gears of the equipment require regular replacement of grease or lubricating oil. If lubrication maintenance is not carried out for a long time, it will cause dry friction and overheating of the parts, and eventually lead to jamming or fracture failures.

3.Insufficient inlet feed. The main causes of insufficient feed include too low inlet liquid level, blockage of inlet pipes due to failure to clean them in time, and failure to increase inlet pressure accordingly after the temperature of the conveyed medium rises. Insufficient feed will cause cavitation in the pump chamber, damaging the impeller and pump casing.

4.Long-term operation with closed valve. If the pump runs for a long time with the outlet valve fully closed and no bypass, all the energy input by the motor will be converted into heat energy, causing the temperature of the medium in the pump chamber to rise sharply, leading to aging and failure of seals, and even pump body deformation.

5.Changing the conveyed medium without authorization. Pump bodies of different materials are suitable for media with different characteristics. If the conveyed medium is changed without confirmation from the equipment manufacturer, it may cause corrosion to components such as the pump casing and impeller, and in severe cases, lead to medium leakage.

6.Conveying media containing a large number of solid particles. If the conveyed medium contains a lot of sediment or other solid impurities, and no filtration device is installed at the inlet, the solid particles will continuously scour the internal components of the pump chamber, causing wear and reducing the service life of the equipment.

7.Overpressure operation. When the outlet pipeline is blocked or the inlet pressure is too high, the actual outlet pressure of the pump will exceed its design pressure bearing capacity, which may lead to pump body rupture, seal failure, and even safety accidents.

8.Non-compliant installation. If the equipment is installed on a foundation with insufficient strength, or multiple pumps share the same rigid foundation without vibration isolation treatment, the vibration generated during operation cannot be effectively attenuated, which will lead to loosening of connecting parts and bearing damage.

9.Long-term exposure of equipment to humid environments. If the equipment is stored in a humid environment before installation and commissioning, or water accumulates due to blocked drainage ditches during operation, electrical components such as motors and control cabinets will be damp, causing short circuits or insulation damage.

10.Lack of daily inspection and maintenance. Many users only perform repairs when the equipment fails, and do not check the operating status of the equipment as required on a daily basis, do not replace mechanical seals or packing in a timely manner, and do not carry out anti-corrosion treatment and vibration detection, resulting in small problems gradually developing into unrepairable failures.
