1.Avoid Dry Running;The Pump Cavity Must Be Primed Before Start-up

The primary iron rule for operating a rotor pump is to avoid dry running.The pump's shaft seal consists of a rotating ring and a stationary ring,which depend on the conveyed liquid to form a lubricating fluid film.If started without the pump cavity being filled with medium,the shaft seal will instantly be in a state of dry friction,generating high heat,leading to scorching or deformation of the sealing faces,and rapid seal failure.Therefore,it must be confirmed that the pump cavity and inlet pipeline are completely filled with liquid before every start-up.

2.Prohibit Conveying Suspensions Containing Solid Particles

The internal design of a rotor pump is extremely precise,with the clearance between the rotor and pump body typically controlled within a range of 2~3mm.This minute clearance is key to efficient conveying but also makes the pump exceptionally sensitive to solid particles.Even tiny particles entering can easily score the rotor or pump cavity wall,damaging the smooth mating surfaces,and in severe cases,cause rotor jamming or pump seizure.

3.Verify the Chemical Compatibility of the Conveyed Medium

The wetted parts(e.g.,rotor,pump cavity)and seal materials of the pump have specific chemical resistance ranges.For example,common stainless steel materials have limited corrosion resistance to low-pH strong acids.Conveying incompatible chemical reagents will cause component corrosion,accelerated wear,or seal failure.Therefore,before selection and use,the compatibility list between the medium and all pump contact materials must be strictly verified;do not rely on empirical judgment.

4.Strengthen Daily Monitoring and Maintenance

During operation,personnel should develop the habit of regular inspections.Focus on observing whether there are any leakage traces at the mechanical seal,touching the pump body to check for abnormal temperature rise,and carefully listening for uniform and steady operating sounds.Any abnormal noise or vibration may be an early sign of foreign object ingress or component wear,and operation should be stopped immediately for investigation.This enables predictive maintenance,thereby avoiding sudden failures.
