In the chemical production and storage-transportation system, offloading operations, as a key link in raw material input, profoundly affect the smoothness of the entire operational chain. Faced with two common conveying equipment—centrifugal pumps and rotary pumps—more and more companies are favoring the latter. So, what characteristics enable the rotary pump to stand out in this "efficiency competition"?

From an operational mechanism perspective, the rotary pump adopts the positive displacement principle, relying on rotors to form enclosed spaces within the pump cavity to push the medium smoothly. With its excellent self-priming performance, it can quickly complete the oil suction process without additional priming devices, making it particularly suitable for offloading scenarios such as tank trucks and storage tanks. In contrast, centrifugal pumps often have limitations in self-priming height and start-up efficiency, and they are prone to causing medium turbulence during conveying, leading to the volatilization of light oil products and increasing losses and risks.

Chemical offloading often faces challenges such as complex medium composition, including gas content and viscosity changes in oil products. Due to the flexibility in its structural design, the rotary pump can better adapt to gas-containing media, avoiding a sharp drop in efficiency caused by cavitation. At the same time, it maintains strong stability in conveying oils of different viscosities, remaining reliable even when viscosity increases in low-temperature environments.

In terms of energy efficiency, rotary pumps typically demonstrate superior energy consumption control capabilities. Their efficiency remains high even under partial loads, and they can achieve on-demand oil supply through speed regulation, reducing wasted work. Over the long term, this results in significant savings in energy costs. Additionally, the structure of rotary pumps is relatively simple, with fewer core vulnerable parts and longer maintenance cycles, greatly reducing the frequency of daily inspections and spare parts costs, providing strong support for continuous operations.

Safety is always the lifeline of the chemical industry. Rotary pumps often have an advantage in sealing performance. With advanced sealing technology, they can achieve essentially leak-free operation, significantly reducing the risk of leakage during the conveyance of flammable and explosive media. Moreover, their low operational noise helps improve the on-site working environment, aligning with the environmental protection and occupational health requirements of modern chemical facilities.

In practical applications, whether for railway tank car or ship offloading, rotary pumps can better adapt to operational characteristics, such as effectively cleaning residual oil at the bottom of tanks and resisting pressure fluctuations caused by ship swaying, thereby improving offloading efficiency and operational rhythm. Although the initial investment in rotary pumps may be higher, from the perspective of the total lifecycle cost, their advantages in energy savings, maintenance, and safety often balance the initial price difference within a relatively short period, achieving long-term economic benefits.
